![]() The first 4 digits in front of the "X" are a 2-digit model code and a 2-digit code indicating the fingerboard material. I took a look at a 1980 calendar January 1 was a Tuesday so I don't know what week they counted as "Week 1" of the year the neck could have been made either the 2nd week in August or the 3rd week in August depending on what Fender called "week 01" that year. The 4th digit is the day of the week - 1=Monday, etc.Ġ = 1980 (since it definitely isn't a 1970 neck) The 3rd digit is the last digit of the year ![]() The first 2 digits are the week of the year it was produced. ![]() You would read that part of the stamp like this: WWYD I can read the "33" and the "4" but I'm having a harder time reading what that 3rd digit is, and the 3rd digit is what tells you the year. The photo of the neck heel stamp is kind of blurry but it looks like the 4 digits after the "X" are 3304. I think the neck might be a 1980 - remember they used those "S9xxxxx" serial number decals from late 1978 through 1981 (and possibly even in early 1982 as they finished up some 3-bolt Strats). ![]()
